BE careful what you wish, you may regret it
Gavin reflects on the pitfalls of buying ANYTHING on the premise that cheapest is best. Â Especially when it is not!!
Okay, so the title might be a bit of overkill on the dramatic side of things, however always wishing for everything as cheap as possible can be a catch 22.
Remember, you always get what you pay for!
This has been highlighted by a “competitor†(and I use that term loosely as whilst we have some very good competitors in the market place, we don’t see these guys as one of our peers) who is selling product through eBay (shameless plug for our eBay store this this entire link!), and only through eBay, claiming to have the cheapest prices on bladders in Australia.
On face value, yes, the tank was cheaper. Â However we do not aim to be the cheapest. Â We aim to be the best.
And yet when my potential client went and paid for his cheaper than Flexitank bladder, he soon  realised everything was not coming up apples.  You see, every price we list on eBay, and our webstore, is free freight for EVERY product in Australia.  That meant the $15.95 discount received on our competitors product was null and void by the $32 freight charge imposed by eBay at checkout!
And guess what? Â He cancelled his order, shared his ordeal with me, placed his order through our web store and is now a happy owner of a 100 litre dual layer under deck diesel tank.
As I said, we have some great competitors in the market place who keep us thriving and striving to better ourselves. Â That is what competition is all about. Â They are sensational businesses who also strive to be the best, who innovate, who design new and exciting products, who basically exist for YOUR business, all the while continuing to manufacture in Australia, supporting the local economy and building sustainable businesses though ethical and morally correct business practices.
And then there are those who exist purely to take your money and make a quick buck. Â It happened in the rainwater tank industry. Â It is happening in the bulk liquid industry now. Â As well as the solar industry and any other industry where demand out strips supply and forces some businesses to look at questionable practices to succeed. Â Karma is a bitch and will come back to bite these operators on the backside, however make sure you are not the ones suffering at the hands of these operators!
Until next time, safe buying and remember, 100% Australian made to international grades is how we operate, all the while with FREE FREIGHT Australia wide on every product we proudly manufacture!
